Editorial Standards
Sources
We build our articles on public health information from government agencies, professional medical societies and peer-reviewed research. Where experts disagree, or where recommendations have changed over time, we say so instead of picking the most dramatic answer.
Plain language, no promises
We explain medical ideas in everyday words. We do not promise cures, quick results or outcomes for any individual reader, and we avoid headlines that frighten people into clicking.
When to see a doctor
Health articles on this site point out the warning signs that need prompt medical attention. When a symptom could have more than one cause, we encourage readers to get it checked rather than guess.
Independence
Advertising and affiliate partnerships pay for this site, but they do not decide what our articles say. Our general articles do not promote specific products. Pages that do link to a partner's offer carry a clear affiliate disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Articles show the date they were last updated. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page. We check every report and correct mistakes promptly.
